Robert Todd Harrell, the 41-year-old bassist for 3 Doors Down, was charged with vehicular homicide after a fatal crash in Nashville on Friday, April 19.

Reuters reported that the rocker was driving his Cadillac CTS on the interstate at a high rate of speed when he clipped a truck, sending it careening down an embankment. The truck's 47-year-old driver, Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr., who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and killed.

Police said that Harrell showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test and later admitted to "consuming hard cider and taking prescription Lortab and Xanax."

The band released a statement on its web site, saying simply, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time."

Harrell is being held on a $100,000 bond.
