Former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley reunited with his Frehley’s Comet band in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Friday night (Sept. 15). Watch the reunion above, in which the band perform their track “Rock Soldiers.”

The opportunity arose when Frehley’s current solo band headlined a three-act bill at the Chance club, with support from Four By Fate – which features his former colleagues John Regan and Tod Howarth. Bassist Regan was a member of all seven Frehley’s Comet lineups between 1984 and 1988, while guitarist Howarth was a member for the band’s last two years of existence. They were accompanied by guitarist Richie Scarlet, who was a member from 1984 to 1985, and who currently plays with Frehley.

The night before the show, Frehley told Q103 (via Blabbermouth): “They’re gonna get up and play a couple of songs with us. Originally they (Four By Fate) were gonna open up more shows, but it didn’t work out. I think the night is gonna be a special night – it’s the first time I’ve played on stage with John and Tod in a very long time.”

The original Space Ace was at the center of speculation earlier this year that he’d rejoin Kiss on a temporary or permanent basis. The rumors were fueled by his collaboration with frontman Paul Stanley, and news of creative interaction with bassist Gene Simmons. It’s since been revealed that Simmons has worked on two tracks for Frehley’s next solo album, expected in 2018. The pair share a stage for the first time in 16 years on Sept 20 when they both perform at a charity concert.

Stanley moved to quell speculation of Frehley’s return in February when he told Billboard: “I have the connection and the reconnection and to celebrate the good things we’ve done together is terrific. I have no thoughts of revisiting the past. I am happy to do whatever i can for anyone who has helped put me where I am – but that doesn’t include getting hitched again to somebody I unhitched from.”
