‘Justice League’ Star Henry Cavill Teases Black Superman Costume in New Photo
Look, in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a Goodyear tire! No, it’s the new Superman costume from Justice League. Seemingly confirming rumors that the Man of Steel will be wearing a black suit in Zack Snyder’s next superhero epic, Henry Cavill shared a new close-up shot of the Superman costume from the set of the upcoming film — and although you can’t see the entire thing, it is most certainly black.
‘Don’t Breathe’ Red Band Trailer Really Wants You to Know How ‘F—ed Up’ This Movie Is
Ah yes, the red band trailer. When you absolutely, positively have to hear all the F-bombs a film can offer, the red band trailer is for you. And the latest preview for Don’t Breathe sure does love those F-bombs, but at least it’s found a somewhat clever way to incorporate them. if nothing else, the new trailer for the latest film from Evil Dead remake director Fede Alvarez is determined to let you know that things are about to get “really f—ed up.”
‘Dunkirk’ Teaser: Christopher Nolan’s War Drama Looks Stunning
What happens when you let Christopher Nolan make a World War II drama? That’s more of a rhetorical question than anything, but just in case you need an answer, the first teaser for Dunkirk has arrived. Although brief, Nolan’s latest film looks every bit as gorgeous and intense as we imagined — maybe even more. As if we weren’t already tired of this disappointing summer movie season, Dunkirk just gives us another reason to think that 2017 can’t get here fast enough.
The ‘Alien: Covenant’ Countdown Begins With a New Set Video
As of today, we have exactly 365 days to the release of Alien: Covenant, the new Prometheus sequel / Alien prequel from Ridley Scott. To celebrate the occasion, 20th Century Fox has released a new behind-the-scenes video featuring Katherine Waterston’s character, who appears to be enjoying a little hyper-sleep space-nap.
‘Pete’s Dragon’ Unleashes One More Magical Trailer
This has been an underwhelming summer (to say the least), but there’s still hope that August will end this movie season on a positive note. One of our most anticipated releases of the month is Pete’s Dragon, which our own Erin Whitney calls a “worthy remake” and “one of the most stunning live-action animation hybrids Disney has made in years.” That’s the sort of praise that could really get you excited for Disney’s latest reimagining, but just in case you needed a little extra convincing, this new trailer is pretty persuasive.
‘Showgirls’ Is Newly Restored and NSFW in This Official Trailer For the Re-Release
Most people would tell you that Showgirls is a bizarre, tone-deaf curiosity in Paul Verhoeven’s filmography — that it doesn’t belong on the same shelf next to beloved Verhoeven cult classics like RoboCop and Starship Troopers. Those people would be incorrect. Despite its failure to capture audiences and critics alike, Showgirls is every bit as satirical and entertaining as the more respected films in Verhoeven’s catalog, and the people at Pathé Films seem to agree.
‘The Great Wall’ Trailer: Matt Damon Tries to Keep the Monsters Out
Do you enjoy Pacific Rim but find yourself thinking, “Hmm, this would be better if it were set in ancient China and they didn’t have any robots”? Then Matt Damon has the film for you. Over four years after it was initially announced, The Great Wall finally has a trailer, offering our first real look at the epic monster film from House of Flying Daggers director Zhang Yimou.
‘Office Christmas Party’ Trailer: T.J. Miller, Kate McKinnon and Jason Bateman Blow Off Some Steam
“A bunch of hilarious people have one crazy, drunken night” is a familiar plot, and thanks to last year’s The Night Before, we’ve seen what happens when you put that in the context of holiday spirit — which makes this trailer for Office Christmas Party kind of impressive, considering how amusing it looks despite the fact that it feels like something we’ve seen before (Jillian Bell included).
New Netflix Instant Releases: August 2016
It’s a little later than usual, but Netflix has finally announced their upcoming streaming releases for August — which is next week, by the way. Among this month’s offerings are new Netflix Original titles, like Baz Luhrmann’s series The Get Down and the animated adaptation of The Little Prince. As usual, there are several new films hitting the streaming library, including contemporary favorites like Blue Is the Warmest Color and No Country for Old Men. Read on for our full guide to August’s new Netflix Instant Releases.
New ‘Ben-Hur’ Trailer Wants to Know If You’re Having Fun Yet
What’s more unlikely than a gritty, edgy remake of Ben-Hur (of all things)? It might be the moment in the new trailer when Toby Kebbell, in the role of the titular hero’s nemesis, shouts, “Are we having fun yet, brother?!” It’s a line that belongs in an episode of Party Down (RIP), and one that seems hilariously out of place in a movie that features chariots.
‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ Gets a Hilarious New Trailer For Comic-Con
To be honest, we were already sold on The LEGO Batman Movie based on the hilarious teaser alone, but after getting our first look at The Joker and Robin (and Harley Quinn!) earlier this week, we’ve been looking forward to watching a full trailer for the mini-Dark Knight’s animated adventure. And now that trailer has officially arrived, giving us a better sneak peek at The LEGO Movie spinoff starring Will Arnett’s delightfully narcissistic Batman.
‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Officially Wraps Production With a Short Video
Filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII has been nearing an end for the past few weeks, as we’ve seen via set photos from director Rian Johnson and Daisy Ridley. As of today, Johnson has officially wrapped production on the upcoming sequel, sharing a very brief video featuring the final slate from the final shot in the film along with a special message of thanks to his cast and crew.
