Remembering Ronnie Montrose In Video [VIDEOS]

Fans of Rock & Roll are mourning the death of famed 70s guitarist Ronnie Montrose.  He died this past Saturday (March 3rd, 2012), after a long battle with prostate cancer.  Montrose featured a young Sammy Hagar as lead vocalist on his debut album, which included the most familiar tracks from the guitarist: 'Bad Motor Scooter' and 'Rock Candy'.

Music On Vinyl Records – It’s Out There

The image you see here is a stock photo of the turntable I play my music on.  The VPI Scout is a top notch record player, and one of many available today, well into the 200os.  Who would have thought vinyl records would be a growing category in the music industry this far along?

Bulldog Loves Boxes [VIDEO]

Animals are amazing.  And dogs can do things that surprise and puzzle their humans.  You wonder sometimes what's going through their canine heads.  I have always loved bulldogs.  And this one has gone viral.  For some reason, he loves to sit in boxes.  And in this particular instance, the  box he's trying to sit in, is way too small.

Heart Announces Tour Dates And Box Set [VIDEO]

The band Heart are headed back on the road for a tour in 2012.  And they've announced that they will release a career spanning box set.  Ann and Nancy Wilson have been a fixture on the rock tour circuit almost every year since their peak in the late 70s to early 80s.  They narrowly missed induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Last Year, and arguably should have been in there years ago.

Big Year For Beach Boys And Their Fans [VIDEO]

It's hard to imagine after 50 years.  But it looks like the period between the middle of 2011, and the middle of 2012 might be one of the biggest years for the Beach Boys and their fans.  Think about it.  Who could have imagined that the most famous unreleased album of all time, 'Smile', would see the light of day last year.

‘Man Of Constant Sorrow’ – True Americana Music

I pulled out the soundtrack to 'O Brother Where Art Thou?' over the weekend.  There's nothing quite like Americana.  True American root music.  Some call this style of music the 'high lonesome sound'.

George Harrison’s Birthday – February 25th [VIDEO]

George Harrison would be 69 years old this Saturday (February 25, 2012). The youngest Beatle, George brought a distinctive sound on lead guitar and vocal, and even more of a trademark with his slide guitar work. Nobody played sweeter on slide than George Harrison, in my opinion.

Styx, REO Speedwagon And Ted Nugent Announce Tour – Multiple Texas Dates [VIDEO]

Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Ted Nugent will hit the road together for a Spring/Summer Tour.   And we've got multiple dates right here in Texas.  From what I can see on Pollstar.com, the various tour dates may feature only two of the three artists.  But it's an enticing lineup just the same, since Ted Nugent and Tommy Shaw are likely to team up for some 'Damn Yankees' songs on stage.
