Boo at the Zoo returns for 2020. Families from all around the Big Country are welcomed to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes for a day of fun with the animals. The best part of Boo at the Zoo 2020 is that it's being extended for three Saturday's in a row, October 17th, 24th and 31st.

Boo at the Zoo and the unique open-air experience with 'Room to Roam' is made possible with the help from Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union. Every Year Abilene's Boo at the Zoo offers costume contests, a pumpkin craft, wild animal experiences, and new to Boo at the Abilene Zoo this year is "Pumpkin Chunkin'" where zoo visitors will get a chance to 'catapult a pumpkin.'

So get your scary little critters all dressed up for fun and some Trick-or-Treating throughout the zoo October 17th, 24th and 31st from 10 am to 4 pm. All State and local social distancing guidelines will be adhered to. Masks are required while entering, exiting, and navigating through out some parts of the zoo and in the gift shop.

Tickets are on sale and are only $10 a person, $5 for zoo members. So purchase your tickets early, get them online here.

Additional tips and guidelines to follow when visiting the Abilene Zoo:

  • Follow all social distancing guidelines and stay a lions length away from other zoo visitors.
  • Open are: Zoo eats, giraffe feeding experience, gift shop and carousel
  • Closed are the Safari Train Express, and Swan Boats.
  • Food for hand feeding the giraffe is $5.
