Do These Songs Sound Similar? [POLL]

Do these songs sound the same? Looks like most people think so. In fact, they sound so much alike that Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne have been given the songwriting credit for Sam Smith's song 'Stay With Me'.

The song in question sounds like a slowed down version of similar it sounds to Petty's 1989 song "I Won't Back Down", which both Petty and Lynne wrote. The writers of "Stay With Me" claim they weren't familiar with the Petty song when they wrote it, but they gave in without a fight because they realized the songs were similar.
