If you're Marvel Studios, you've got a reason to feel a little cocky. Their film 'The Avengers' was 2012's biggest hit by a wide margin, and they've already set up a game plan of films that stretch into 2015. Most of those are sequels, but they have a deep body of characters to draw from, and -- as rumored -- one of the next characters to transition to the big screen will be Doctor Strange.

This news comes from MTV, who talked to Kevin Feige about "Phase Three," their next round of superhero movies. We already know about 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Ant-Man' but Feige tipped his hand that 'Strange' is on the docket. His quote:

"'Doctor Strange,' which I've been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. He's a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he's totally different from anything else we have, just like 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' He's totally different from anything we've done before, as is 'Ant-Man,' which keeps us excited."

He also confirms that Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' is the start of phase three. Doctor Strange, if you don't know, was an actual Doctor who was involved in an accident that crushed his hands. Looking for a cure, he meets an old mystic who eventually teaches him how to be "the mightiest magician in the cosmos." Though no casting or -- really -- anything has been announced yet, if this is next, expect it some time in 2016.
