Dee Snider Gave Donald Trump Permission to Use Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’

It's tough these days for a political candidate to find a song they can play at campaign stops without offending the artist — but Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has no such problem with Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, who's given his use of the band's "We're Not Gonna Take It" an enthusiastic thumbs up.

Snider tells TMZ that the two shared a phone call regarding the Trump campaign playing the song, and even though Snider refrained from outright endorsing him for president — and made it clear he doesn't agree with all of Trump's positions or statements — he does consider him a friend, and offered him use of "We're Not Gonna Take It" for free.

"I said ‘Look, you’re a buddy of mine and I like what you’re doing, so go for it," he explained. "Donald Trump is a good friend and a great guy, and I support him turning the political system on its head. The song ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ is about rebellion, and there’s nothing more rebellious than what Donald Trump is doing right now."

There are obviously no hard feelings between Snider and Trump following Snider's firing during his appearance on Trump's Celebrity Apprentice series — which should feel like a nice change of pace for Trump after he publicly squabbled with Neil Young over his use of Young's "Rockin' in the Free World" and was asked by Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell not to introduce the band at a spot on its summer tour.
