According to Walmart and Coke corporate officials, the ideas was created by the local store.

An Orlando Walmart quickly pulled down a massive 911 memorial display made from 12pack fridge packs of Coke products after a customer snapped a picture and posted it on Twitter.

According to attn.com, Shawn Richard was in the Orlando Walmart, when he came across this massive display, featuring and American flag, with the twin towers, as well as a Walmart-Coke banner reading "We will never forget."

As the picture went viral on Twitter, Walmart and Coke spokespersons said the idea was well-intended, but not a corporately generated plan. It was quickly taken down.

Virtually all attempts to tie marketing to 911 have been met with firestorms of criticism.
