Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde and Yngwie Malmsteen will be featured in a new guitar-focused tour titled Generation Axe. Dates begin on April 5 in Seattle, and also include Nuno Bettencourt and the Nigerian-American guitarist Tosin Abasi.

More than 25 stops have already been announced for a tour that's suitably subtitled "A Night of Guitars." Among the tour dates is a night at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, where Vai and Wylde took part in a star-packed benefit concert for guitar and keyboard virtuoso Tony MacAlpine back in December. Tickets for the Generation Axe tour go on sale Feb. 19. You can see a complete list of dates and cities is below.

The five guitarists will participate in a variety of collaborations, including one with a touring rhythm section of Pete Griffin and Nick Marinovich.

Vai was part of David Lee Roth's first solo group, Wylde earlier worked with Ozzy Osbourne and Bettencourt was lead guitarist in Extreme. Griffin has previously collaborated with Edgar Winter, while Marinovich is a veteran of Malmsteen's band.

"The Generation Axe show is a unique performance of five fiercely talented guitar players coming together to create a six-string extravaganza that is sure to amaze and delight," Vai said in a press release announcing the tour.
