Following a disappointing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, amidst the worst losing streak in team history, the Houston Texans have cut ties with head coach Gary Kubiak.

"We felt that a change was needed at the head coach position and Gary Kubiak is no longer the head coach," Texans chairman and CEO Bob McNair said Friday. - Houston Texans website

Wade Phillips will take over as interim head coach for the rest of the season. According to the Houston Texans, the rest of the coaching staff will be evaluated.

The Texans started the season with Super Bowl aspirations. After opening with 2 wins, the team has yet to find the win column again.

Kubiak led the Texas to back-to-back AFC South titles, as well as their only 2 playoff victories, but that wasn't enough to keep his job during a season of struggles.

With what appears to be change in regime with Abilene's Case Keenum at QB, the Texans are hoping a change in leadership off the field will be what the team needs to get to the next level.

Win or lose, I'm a Houston Texans fan til the day I die.
