Joe Satriani's annual G4 Experience has announced the lineup for this year's outing.

The guitar extravaganza will take place on July 24-28 at the Asilomar Center in Carmel, Calif., and will include Def Leppard's Phil Collen, Ratt's Warren DeMartini and Mr. Big's Paul Gilbert. This year's event -- called G4 Experience: Surfing With the Alien 30th Anniversary -- promises to take budding guitar students to another level as they study with some of the instruments' masters.

"I'm thrilled to have guitarists Phil Collen and Warren DeMartini joining Paul Gilbert and myself for this year's G4 camp," Satriani said in a news release announcing the event (via Blabbermouth). "What an incredible lineup! Phil, Warren and Paul are all virtuosos with a wide range of professional experience in the music world. Together, we look forward to sharing all of our musical knowledge with this year's G4 campers."

Collen added that he's "thrilled and honored" to be taking part. "I'm stoked to get to play with him and share some of my experiences with all the attendees," he said.

This year's G4 marks the fourth time Satriani has hosted the gathering. But for the first time, the focus will be on a specific album -- in this case, Satriani's breakthrough 1987 classic Surfing With the Alien. Blabbermouth notes that "campers will enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pull back the curtain on the album with the visionaries behind the music."

In addition to the other guests, Alien's co-producer, John Cuniberti, will be on hand to discuss the making of the record. The band that joined Satriani on tour back in the day -- including Stu Hamm and Jonathan Mover -- will take part in a performances, marking the first time they've played together since 1995.
