Singer-songwriter and author Ken Sharp just released a new album, and he got some help from his classic-rock pals.

Beauty in the Back Seat, Sharp's fifth album, is full of sweet pop rockers drenched in influences from the past, especially '70s AM pop-rock. So it's no surprise Sharp called in a couple of artists from the era to lend a hand: John Oates adds backing vocals to the song "Philly Kind of Night," while former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley plays the solos on "Rock Show."

The guitar player drives "Rock Show," a sugary rocker that recalls the decade's pure pop. "A full circle moment for me, being a huge fan of Kiss since I was a kid, I was thrilled that Ace Frehley laid down a solo on the opening track, titled appropriately enough, 'Rock Show,'" Sharp said in a press release for the album.

You can listen to "Rock Show" below.

“Being a Philly boy with my ear permanently glued to the radio dial, the sound of Philadelphia etched its indelible mark on my musical DNA," Sharp added. "Being able to work in the studio with John Oates, someone whose music was the soundtrack of my youth, was a supersonic blessing of brotherly love!"

Elsewhere, Utopia's Kasim Sulton shows up on the upbeat "Mona Lisa Smile."

Sharp has penned books on Kiss, Raspberries and Cheap Trick, among others. Beauty in the Back Seat is available now on CD and as a download.
