Even one of rock 'n' roll's most well-liked nice guys has to take his social media lumps once in awhile.

Case in point: Dave Grohl, who recently found himself the target of a funny (and, we're sure, totally light-hearted) jab from Mastodon singer and guitarist Brent Hinds. While alleviating some boredom on Instagram last week, Hinds posted a shot of a smiley-faced Grohl at the control board, with the caption, "Making rock n roll safer with every red carpet all-star jam." Predictably, the comment thread attached to the image quickly devolved into an argument peppered with pleas for another Probot album.

It's hard to believe Hinds was in any way serious when he posted this, because if he had been, it'd mean he was jealous of Grohl's status as an in-demand guest star for ... well, pretty much everybody, including such big names as Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Lemmy, and Slash. But whatever the intent, we're sure the aggressively good-natured Grohl can take it -- and anyway, you have to expect a little joshing when your work with Nirvana and the Foo Fighters has been immortalized in the Rockabye Baby! series of lullaby records.

When not fiddling with his mobile device, Hinds is preparing to promote a few new jams of his own: Mastodon's next album, 'Once More 'Round the Sun,' arrives in stores on June 24.
