We haven’t reported much on FOX’s Rocky Horror Picture Show musical event, much less any other network’s wacky musical remakes, but when you have news as good as the brilliant casting of original Rocky Horror vet Tim Curry as the show’s narrator…well, that’s news that’s just too good to ignore.

Last we reported, FOX’s Rocky Horror redo had cast Orange Is the New Black breakout Laverne Cox in the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter — a role originated on stage and screen by Tim Curry, who made his feature film debut in the cult classic musical as the gender-bending mad scientist from space who welcomes a newlywed couple in from the rain and throws a wrench in their relationship — all on the eve of unveiling his new science “project.”

FOX revealed during the TCA ’16 press tour (via Deadline) that Curry has joined the cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show musical event as the Criminologist. For those unfamiliar with the musical, the character essentially narrates the story from his study and instructs viewers on the finer points of the “Time Warp.”

Unlike other network musical events, FOX’s Rocky Horror redo will be a pre-taped, two-hour film. Victoria Justice (Undateable) is set to play Janet Weiss with Ryan McCartan (Royal Pains) as her fiancé Brad Majors — roles originated in the film by Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick, respectively. Pop star Adam Lambert will play Eddie, a role first played on screen by Meat Loaf, with Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful) as creepy butler Riff Raff and newcomer Staz Nair as Rocky, Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s “creation.”

But the casting of Curry is kind of a big deal (and equally as awesome as Cox’s casting), given that the actor has mostly done voice work in recent years and this role brings him full circle to his feature debut.
