Rod Stewart – 2012 Book of the Year Winner
Stewart won 35% of the vote, giving him a convincing win over the nearest competitors, Heart (20%) and Dee Snider (14%). The Rolling Stones (13%), Pete Townshend (9%), Neil Young (4%) and Gregg Allman (4%) were the other nominees.
'Rod: The Autobiography' was acclaimed for its charming and humorous tone as well as Stewart's decision to hold back few details from his life of rock star decadence proving that blondes, indeed, have more fun. In the book, Rod admitted that his famously prodigious sex life was "sad" and that he took cocaine anally. We only believe one of those disclosures.
The award is the beginning of what promises to be a big year for Stewart. He recently completed a new album, tentatively titled, Love the Life You Live,' in preparation for a spring 2013 release, with a tour to follow. The album is a return to rock after having spent the better part of the past decade recording the Great American Songbook.
