Greg Lake was in a creative logjam when he started singing a familiar Christmas standard over a new riff that stubbornly refused to go away.

Former Emerson, Lake & Palmer drummer Carl Palmer has issued a public statement honoring the life and legacy of his longtime bandmate Greg Lake.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer singer, bassist and guitarist Greg Lake died on Dec. 7 after what is described as "a long and stubborn battle with cancer."

Greg Lake was a hard sell on the seven-part title suite at first.

Two-thirds of Emerson, Lake & Palmer have released a live album from their 2013 world tour.

I've always loved this song.  Greg Lake wrote it and recorded it, and you still hear it every Christmas season. This performance is from 2005.  If you listen to his lyrics, you get the meaning of what Christmas should be.  You hear the cynicism in the first verses, followed by belief in the spirit of peace and the true intent of the holiday.  Check out the video:
