Legendary electric guitar innovator Les Paul would have been 100 today, and his birth is being honored across the U.S. with a series of special events that will include appearances by some of the countless musicians he inspired.

Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills recently held the estate auction of guitarist and innovator Les Paul. The two-day auction brought in nearly $5 million for the Les Paul Foundation, a charity founded by the legend to support music education, engineering, innovation and medical research.

I watched the 'Pawn Stars' episode last night on which they bought a Gibson guitar once owned by Les Paul. For $90,000. That led to a search for some of Les' original songs on YouTube.  There's a LOT of them out there.  The man not only invented the electric guitar which bears his name, he also played it like nobody else.

A guitar that once belonged to legendary guitarist Les Paul was recently purchased for $90,000 by Rick and Corey Harrison, the proprieters of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas featured on the popular television show ‘Pawn Stars.’
