For as much as we miss Andy Samberg's presence on 'SNL,' and hope 'Parks and Recreation' producers Mike Schur and Dan Goor's new FOX comedy won't mean the end of Pawnee, we're doubly excited to see what becomes of the groups new single-camera detective comedy. FOX has officially picked up the script to pilot, and we've now learned 'The Newsroom' and 'Expendables' star Terry Crews has been tapped to flex his comedy muscles for the series. Get the latest on the project inside!

As if Andy Samberg's post-'SNL' career didn't look big enough, we've learned that man-mountain actor Terry Crews has officially joined the pilot of Samberg's forthcoming untitled FOX comedy series, to be written and produced by 'Parks and Recreation' producers Mike Schur and Dan Goor.

Developed with an eye for fall 2013, the single-camera comedy will follow Samberg as the lead officer of “a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City.” Crews will portray Sergeant Terry Jeffords, the group's no-nonsense captain. The character is described as built like an NFL linebacker, one who was seen as a great cop who has since lost some of his edge now that he has a family.

Crews will continue to recur on 'The Newsroom,' and will take an unidentified role in the forthcoming revival season of 'Arrested Development.' Goor and Schur will write and executive produce alongside David Miner, with Samburg also producing under Universal Television.

What say you? Does Terry Crews' addition to the untitled Andy Samberg detective pilot pique your interest? What new pilots have you the most excited?
