To promote the release of their 10th studio album, Hidden City, on Feb. 5, the Cult have given us another taste of what to expect. You can watch the video for the third single, "Hinterland," above.

Hidden City is the third record in a trilogy that started in 2007 with Born Into This and continued with 2012's Choice of Weapon. It features original members Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitars) and is the first effort with bassist Grant Fitzpatrick, who replaced longtime bassist Chris Wyse. It is produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi), who has now helmed five Cult albums beginning with 1989's Sonic Temple.

The group has already released two other songs from the record, "Deeply Ordered Chaos" and the first single, "Dark Energy." Loudwire describes "Dark Energy" as having a "jumpy, swinging rhythm" featuring Astbury's "signature croon." They add that Duffy's guitar hearkens back to "the band’s post-punk and goth rock days while maintaining their modern day sound."

Hidden City is a metaphor for our spiritual lives, our intimate interior lives,” said Astbury. “I find today’s gurus are trying to peddle some cure, product or insight as if it’s a new phenomenon. My place is to respond, not react, to observe, participate and share through words and music. There is no higher authority than the heart.”

The album is available for pre-order from their website. In addition to being available on CD and vinyl, they are also selling several packages that include a t-shirt, a print of the cover artwork and other items.
