‘The Killing’ Final Season Photos: First Look at Joan Allen’s Villainous Character
We weren't altogether surprised to learn that 'The Killing' would likely breathe its last breath with the forthcoming final season on Netflix, but for a series that has defied the odds of survival at every turn, season 4 doesn't look to be going down without a fight. Get a first look at Joan Allen menacing cadets before Holder and Linden show up, in a brand-new look at 'The Killing' season 4!
Per Entertainment Weekly, 'The Bourne Ultimatum' actress will take the season 4 role of Colonel Margaret Rayne, headmaster to an all-boys military academy. The original character outline describes Allen's character as dishonorably discharged from the military over her involvement in a questionable incident during one of her tours in the Gulf. In addition to her natural discipline, Margaret has a deeply buried maternal instinct, one she has projected instead onto the troubled boys she is charged with molding into men.
Season four of the one-time AMC murder-mystery drama sees detectives Linden (Mireille Enos) and Holder (Joel Kinnaman) managing the fallout from her rash actions at the close of season 3, before being assigned the case of a murdered family, survived only by their military academy son, Kyle Stansbury (Tyler Ross).
Set amid a military school murder mystery, the final season of ‘The Killing’ also features student roles for Sterling Beaumon and Levi Meaden, along with an appearance by Sarah’s mother, as played by Frances Fisher. The new run of episodes will see what became of the relationship between Holder and Linden after the season 3 cliffhanger of “From Up Here/The Road to Hamelin” saw the latter gunning down her serial-killing former partner in cold blood against Holder’s advice.
