Seventies hitmakers 'America' are set to get a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.  Members Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley will be on hand as the star is unveiled on February 6th, 2012.  America's star will be the 2,459th on the walk, and will be located in front of the Musician's Institute near stars for Motley Crue, Rush, Al Jolson, and Hal David.

The band America had a long list of hits stretching from the early 1970s to the mid 1980s.  They had Number One songs featuring both Bunnell and Beckley.  'Horse With No Name' featuring Dewey Bunnell topped the charts in 1972, followed by 'Sister Golden Hair' with Gerry Beckley out front, which repeated the trip to the top in 1975.

Dan Peek who was with the band throughout the 1970s, also penned a memorable hit with 'Lonely People' which reached Number Five for America in 1974.  Peek died last year at the age of 60.  You can see more on that story and a video for 'Lonely People' here at TrueOldiesAbilene.com/DanPeek.

Fans will remember a slew of other great songs like 'Sandman', 'Ventura Highway', 'Tin Man', 'Daisy Jane', 'I Need You', and 'You Can Do Magic'.
