From Student to Stage Partner

For me, this concert hits a personal note. The band’s longtime director, Mr. Stevens, wasn’t just a teacher, he was my elementary, junior high, and high school band director. He taught me much more than music. He challenged me to pick up instruments beyond the cornet I started with, trumpet, baritone, tuba, even French horn, and trombone. Each lesson built more than skill; it built discipline and creativity.

Who could have guessed that years later, we’d be working side by side to promote the same band that first taught me what teamwork, timing, and harmony really mean?

A Lifetime of Laughter and Learning

I’ll admit, there were times Mr. Stevens had to “redirect” my attention, once or twice with a well-aimed chalkboard eraser! But those moments, filled with laughter and encouragement, made band practice something special. He made learning music fun, and that same spirit still shines through every Abilene Community Band concert.

Join the Celebration of Sound

Come on out and enjoy a night of music that brings back memories and builds new ones. Admission is free, the music is uplifting, and the applause always echoes a little louder inside the beautiful Paramount Theatre.

Because, in Abilene, we don’t just listen to music, we live it.
