Abilene We Need You to Help the Salvation Army Share Holiday Joy
Thanksgiving at The Salvation Army is a Chance to Give Back and Share Joy
As someone who has volunteered at The Salvation Army in the past, I’ve witnessed firsthand how their programs bring hope and happiness to those in need. This Thanksgiving, The Salvation Army in Abilene is once again stepping up to serve the community with a warm meal, love, and support to those who otherwise wouldn't have anything on the day of thanks.
Serving Over 500 Thanksgiving Meals
On Thanksgiving Day, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., The Salvation Army at 1726 Butternut Street right here in Abilene, Texas, will serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal to over 500 individuals. Volunteers and staff are dedicated to creating a festive atmosphere where guests are waited on and treated with care. Captain Joshua McKain highlights the heart of the mission: “We’re determined that everyone in our community is reminded they are loved and valued, no matter their circumstances.”
Here's How You Can Help
To make this event a success, community support is crucial. The Salvation Army is seeking donations of 75 turkeys, instant stuffing, canned green beans, cranberry sauce, pies, and other holiday staples. Disposable aluminum pans, dinner rolls, and butter are also welcome.
Financial support can make a tremendous difference if you can’t volunteer or serve. I believe it’s incredible that a small $50 donation can provide a Thanksgiving meal for 12 people! Any contribution, big or small, helps ensure no one is left out during the holiday season. Donations can be made online at SalvationArmyAbilene.org, or by simply calling (325) 677-1408, or in person at their office 1726 Butternut.
Volunteer Opportunities Abound
Beyond donating food or funds, you can make a difference by volunteering. Whether serving meals, ringing bells for the Red Kettle campaign, or supporting the Angel Tree program, there’s a way for everyone to get involved. “This is a chance to start a new tradition of giving and sharing,” says Captain McKain.
Join the Celebration
Let’s come together to support this incredible effort. With your help, we can ensure that everyone in Abilene feels the warmth of community and the joy of a Thanksgiving meal. Visit The Salvation Army or call their office today to learn how to make an impact.
