Texas has so much to offer when it comes to adventures in the great outdoors. One thing I'm a huge fan of is our state parks, they are simply amazing and they have so much to offer.

Last week while out doing the Teacher Tribute one of the sponsors was asking which State or National Parks would be too hot of an adventure to take school children to this summer. Justin was thinking Big Bend or Possum Kingdom would be too hot and the heat would put too much stress on the kids.

The cool part about our State and National Parks in Texas is that they literally can feel like you are in different parts of the country when you are there. Let me explain when I was in college at ACU, several friends and I decided to take on Possum Kingdom State Park in the middle of summer. On my first day there I thought the weather was too hot for us to relax and enjoy.

It looked and felt like we moved to another state

However, my best friend Steve recommended we move to another area of the park because there were tons more trees it was more hill country-like, and it looked and felt like we moved to another state. The trees and hills helped tremendously because that area of the park made the lake feel a lot cooler and more peaceful.

This Summer why not try one of our amazing State or National Parks and check out what the different areas of each park have to offer. Some parks are peaceful and quiet while that same park can also make you feel like you're hiking in the Grand Canyon or concurring a desert trail.

This year make it a plan to visit one of the incredible parks in Texas. With as many as we have in Texas, you could do one a month for at least a year. So Check out these park videos and I'll see you out there while camping and hiking in our great State Parks.
