About Historic Hotel Wooten In Abilene Texas

This 16-story tower was built at the corner of North 3rd and Cypress Street in 1930 by local businessman H.O. Wooten. It was the center of the local social scene for decades. But in the 1970s, the Abilene population started to grow outward, and the downtown area was left in despair.

It was renamed the Abilene Tower Apartments for several years before becoming Hotel Wooten once again. As downtown revitalization continues, the building has gotten a much-needed facelift and continues to thrive in downtown Abilene.
