The City of Abilene recently approved a master plan to make major improvements at Lake Fort Phantom in Texas, something that many folks think is long overdue with ideas of their own.

Growing up in Abilene I've visited Lake Fort Phantom countless times to hang out with friends on the east side boat docks with some cold ones. But not so much in the past decade mainly because there is just not a lot to do out there other than fishing or taking a dip in the lake.

While other lakes in Texas have built thriving communities with tons of amenities around their lakes, it seems that Lake Fort Phantom has been a bit behind the times. That's not to say there is absolutely nothing out at the lake, but there is potential for so much more.

Hopefully that changes soon.

Lake Fort Phantom Master Plan

According to Big Country Homepage, the Abilene City Council approved the plan that will be designed by LJA Engineering Inc. out of Dallas, Texas.

The proposed plan will include updates to the 8 parks that surround the lake, dedicated swimming areas, fishing zones with docks, tent camping, lakeside RV park, trails, a marina with restrooms, a beach, and more.

All of that sounds amazing, but as some listeners pointed out on our Facebook page, other issues need to be addressed while also offering some ideas on how to improve our lake.
