Another Abilene Domestic Violence Tragedy: When Does This Stop In Texas?
It’s getting way too familiar in Texas, and that’s a major problem.
A recent tragedy here in Abilene left two people dead after a man shot his estranged girlfriend outside a nightclub before taking his own life. According to reports, the two had been arguing in the parking lot before things escalated.
And if your gut reaction was “haven’t we seen this before?”… yeah, we have.
In fact, several months ago, another Abilene homicide was tied to domestic violence. Different situation, same root issue. But this isn’t about rehashing headlines.

Domestic Violence in Texas Isn’t Rare And It’s Repeating
Across Texas, domestic abuse cases continue to show up in the worst way possible, after it’s already too late. And here’s the part people don’t always see.
Domestic abuse doesn’t just start with violence. It builds.
It can look like:
- Constant control or jealousy
- Isolation from friends and family
- Threats (even subtle ones)
- Emotional or mental manipulation
- By the time it turns physical, it’s usually been happening for a while.
What Happened in Abilene Is a Wake-Up Call…Again
These aren’t random acts. These are patterns. Arguments escalate. Control turns into fear. Fear turns into violence. And too often, the story ends with sirens, police tape, and another family shattered.
We can’t normalize that.

Because nobody in Abilene, or anywhere else in Texas, should become the next headline.
