The Texas West State Championship was held here in Abilene over the weekend with both Wylie baseball teams walking away as champions.

The 12-year-old team now moves on to the Little League Southwest Region Tournament in hopes of a return trip to the Little League World Series.

The younger Wylie team went undefeated in the state tournament beating Midland Northern, Alamo Heights, and East Brownsville. This is where their journey ends as the 10 and under teams don't advance past the state tournament.

Wylie's 12-year-old team beat McAllister Park and Padre to advance to the title game but fell 10-9 to Lubbock Western in game 1. Game 2, of the state championship game, was a different story as Wylie came out on top, 16-1.

That win means Wylie moves on to the next round, the region tournament in Waco.

When and where is the Little League Southwest Region Tournament?

The tournament is from August 4th through August 9th at Marvin Norcross Stadium in Waco, Texas.

Wylie's first game will be against the Louisiana state champ on Thursday, August 4th at 7 PM.

How can I watch the Southwest Region Tournament?

Well, aside from going to Waco to cheer our team on, you can also catch the action on TV. The first two rounds can be seen on the Longhorn Network and the remaining games on ESPN.

The regional tournament winner then advances to the Little League World Series.
