Stand-Up Paddling Is Getting Really Popular In Lubbock Right Now
A friend of mine has been begging me to go stand-up paddleboarding with her on the weekends. I remember it being insanely popular back when I lived in Austin in the early 2000s, but I haven't seen many people doing it around here. I keep putting off going with her, because well...I'm super lazy. Haha. But, after coming across a video posted to TikTok by @lubbockentertainment, I think I just might have to take the plunge and check it out. It looks like a really fun time.
Check it out below:
According to the SUPLBK website, not only can you rent a paddleboard, but you can also rent a kayak as well. Stand-up paddling might not be for everyone. Kayaking sounds a little bit more like my style. They also offer sunset paddling, and ours are pretty beautiful in West Texas. Hanging out on the lake and watching the sun go down would be a nice Lubbock date idea.
I also learned from the website that they offer yoga, fitness classes, kids day camps, and are equipt for large parties. That's pretty cool. I wonder if I could talk a big group of friends into going out and giving it a shot...
Have you ever been stand-up paddling in one of our lakes? I feel like the best spot for it is probably out at Buffalo Lake. They also don't require any reservations to come out and paddle. You just show up, grab the gear, and hit the water.
Is anybody up for it? Let me know in the comments if you've tried it out!
