One lucky Texan just scored $20 million on a Texas Lottery Powerball ticket they recently bought in Leander. If you meet the criteria, I highly advise you to check your numbers.

Admittedly, I rarely ever buy a lottery ticket. I know I have played the lottery in the past, but it’s been so long that I can’t even remotely remember when. But when I did, I was quick to check the numbers in the newspaper the next day (that should give you a clue as to how long it’s been).

So, it blows my mind when lottery jackpots go unclaimed for a long period of time. That makes me think the winner probably plays every week, and rarely ever wins a dime, making them expect to lose every week, so they forget to check their numbers. Again, if that sounds like you, check your numbers ASAP.

The winning Powerball ticket was of the Quick Pick variety, matching all six numbers (25-37-42-52-65, Powerball 14), according to a press release. The ticket was purchased at QuikTrip #4165, located at 10742 E. Crystal Falls Parkway, in Leander.

A player in Florida also matched the same numbers, so the $20 million jackpot will be split between the two winners. The Texas player chose the cash option, so the winner will receive around $4.5 million before taxes.

Aside from awarding billions of dollars in prizes to players since its inception in 1992, the Texas Lottery has also given billions of dollars to support education in the Lone Star State, as well as Texas veterans.
