This Iconic Fast Food Restaurant Is Moving Its Headquarters To Texas
Get ready for Texas Fried Chicken! Another global giant is moving their headquarters to the state of Texas.
KFC, also known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, recently announced they would be moving their U.S. headquarters from Louisville, Kentucky to Plano, Texas.
That's right KFC is leaving Kentucky. KFC's parent company, Yum! Brands said in a press release that Pizza Hut Global is also in Plano and will be making room for 100 KFC workers from Kentucky to make the move to Texas over the next 18 months.
And by the way, no they aren't renaming it to TFC or Texas Fried Chicken.
KFC's history in Kentucky dates back to the 1930s when its founder, Colonel Harland Sanders began selling his chicken in Corbin, Kentucky at a service station.
The press release stated that about 90 remote employees will have 18 months to move to Texas.
The press release stated that the move to the Dallas suburb of Plano will position KFC for sustainable growth in the future according to UPI.
"These changes position us for sustainable growth and will help us better serve our customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders," David Gibbs, Yum! Brands CEO, said in a statement. "Ultimately, bringing more of our people together on a consistent basis will maximize our unrivaled culture and talent as a competitive advantage.
"I'm confident this is another important step in growing our iconic restaurant brand globally."
KFC isn't the only company to recently announce they were moving their headquarters to Texas. Realtor.com recently announced their move to Austin, Texas.
