Music Legend Don Kirshner Passes

The music business has lost a true legend and pioneer. Don Kirshner is gone at the age of 76 due to heart failure.

He is responsible not only for the careers of some of the most talented artists in history, but also for classic television shows. He's the man behind The Monkees, Neil Sedaka, Neil Diamond, Carole King, and many more. Sedaka openly acknowledges Kirshner as the guy most responsible for his success. Kirshner discovered him and signed him to his first record deal.

He also was the music supervisor for I Dream Of Jeanie and Bewitched.

So many timeless songs were exposed to the public's ears due to Kirshner's vision and instincts. 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling', 'Breaking Up Is Hard To Do', 'Da Doo Ron Ron', 'Save The Last Dance For Me', along with all the great songs he hand selected for The Monkees.

Don Kirshner arguably shaped the sound of 1960's pop music on this side of the pond. His knack for finding a hit song provided a lot of the top 40 hits that were charting along with the Beatles.
