While details of the funeral services for Monkees singer Davy Jones have been difficult to come by, it’s clear the family wants to keep it a private affair. Vintage Vinyl News reports that a memorial is scheduled for today (March 7) in Florida. Jones’ ex-bandmates will not attend.

In the wake of Davy Jones’ sudden passing yesterday (Feb. 29), his fans and musical peers have taken to their social media networks of choice to share their sorrow and disbelief — as have Jones’ former bandmates in the Monkees, all of whom have posted public expressions of grief.

Davy Jones, one fourth of the most famous made for TV rock and roll band ever, the Monkees, has died today (Feb. 29) of a heart attack. The Martin County, Fla. medical examiner’s office confirmed the story to ABC News, saying they “are currently evaluating whether or not the medical examiners office will take jurisdiction.”

Two heartthrobs from the 1960s are set to host the PBS pledge concert.  Davy Jones of the Monkees, and Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits will co-host as well as perform on the show.  The concert was taped earlier this year in Pittsburgh and features Paul Revere and The  Raiders, The Kingsmen, Mitch Ryder, Jefferson Starship, Gary Lewis and The Playboys, Percy Sledge, and Question Mark and The Myster
