It’s taken forever and a day to finally see both Arnold Schwarzenegger taking the Celebrity Apprentice desk, and Emerald City come to life, but NBC has finally made a firm commitment. Both high-profile new series have set January bows, just barely into 2017.

DC Comics shares an interesting relationship with its TV properties, always dancing around some of the major heroes and villains, to the point that NBC’s proposed office comedy Powerless might have slim pickings. Now, a new report on the pilot script supposedly identifies the first notable comic brawl, along with some familiar allies of the Super Friends.

Earlier this month, NBC placed an order for a Cruel Intentions TV pilot that would act as a sort of sequel to the 1999 film, and today brings the fortuitous news that the central pillar of this grand monument to teen horniness will return for the second go-round. Now comes word that original star Sarah Michelle Gellar will reprise her role as Kathryn Merteuil, the queen-bitch rich kid meddling in everyone’s affairs with her sexual scheming.

Just days into the movie’s run as the most successful R-rated opening of all time, Deadpool seemingly broke a fifth wall with a 20,000-strong petition to host SNL, or at least Ryan Reynolds in character. Take your pick of reasons that would never happen, but now Deadpool has given an official response, dragging Kanye West’s recent backstage tirade into the mix.

We are in a strange era of television with networks reviving beloved shows like The X-Files and, uh, Full House, and developing sequel TV shows for the kind of movies you never really thought needed a sequel — like Training Day and Limitless (though the latter seems to be doing okay). The latest movie to get its own baffling TV follow-up is Cruel Intentions, the 1999 thriller that weirdly spawned a few direct-to-video sequels already.

It’s been some time since we learned NBC would replace the unendingly topical Donald Trump on Celebrity Apprentice with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and at last we know how the rest of the series will shake out. In addition to moving to California, Season 8 will feature guests the likes of Tyra Banks, Jessica Alba, Warren Buffett, and so many more.

Last week’s 2016 SNL premiere with Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Adam Driver proved every bit as delightful as we’d hoped, but will Ronda Rousey pack the same punch? The Furious 7 star’s first official promos have arrived, as Rousey predictably overpowers Beck Bennett and pretty much anyone in New York.

SNL bounced back nicely from Donald Trump this past weekend with The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks, looking even bigger this coming Saturday with Matthew McConaughey and Adele, but December 2015 will really go all out. Our final three hosts of the year include Ryan Gosling, Chris Hemsworth (poor Liam), and best of all, a dual Sisters hosting with SNL alum Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Ever the human punchline, Donald Trump has braved some of his staunchest comedy critics in pursuit of the 2016 presidency. The blowhard billionaire even made headlines with which SNL player would tackle the role in Season 41, but all bets are off when “The Donald” himself hosts an upcoming November outing.

We’ve seen Jimmy Fallon take on the likes of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and House of Cards, but with Empire Season 2 drip-dropping its FOX premiere tomorrow night, Fallon was bound to take the throne.
