Neil Diamond is 71 years old today (January 24th, 2012).  Neil has had an incredible career not only as a singer and dynamic live artist, but as a songwriter.  Neil Diamond songs fueled gold records for The Monkees during the mid '60s, scoring a number one hit for them with 'I'm A Believer'.

It's the time of year when artists release new box sets, hits packages, and holiday themed music.  Neil Diamond is releasing an expansive hits collection on December 6th.  'The Very Best Of Neil Diamond - The Original Studio Recordings' will feature 23 songs spanning his entire discography for the first time ever.

Neil Diamond was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.  This weekend he receives another honor:  The Billboard Icon Award. Neil will not only be at the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday (May 22nd) to accept, he'll also perform live on the show.  It airs at 7pm Central time on ABC television.
