Whatever credibility the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had left has taken yet another hit, because they're booting the ashes of a prominent man in the history of rock...to make room for Beyoncé's leotards.
Chubby Checker really should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...and he knows it. In fact, he's DEMANDING it...while he's still young enough to use it to make more money.
The 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony had many highlights, including the induction of one of my favorite bands, Nirvana. And I was pleasantly surprised with how they drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic handled their live performance, since lead singer Kurt Cobain has been dead for 20 years.
Originally posted in 2012, my list of bands has shrunk a little over the years. Here is an updated list of bands that I feel have been snubbed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Ever since the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voted to induct Kiss, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons have been whining about the fact that they only want the four original members...the two of them plus Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. They're so upset about it that they've refused to entertain the idea of any kind of KISS performance at the induction ceremony.
You may have seen the nominees for the 2012 inductions into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. As always, it's a list that starts a few arguments. A good case can obviously be made for all of this year's prospective inductees, but a better case can likely be made for numerous legendary artists who are NOT in, and worse, not even nominated. It's shameful that Neil Diamond just made it in this year.
Tonight (3/14/11), the new class will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Finally, Neil Diamond gets in. He should have been in a long time ago, based on just his songwriting. Not to mention a history of sold out, electrifying shows throughout the years, and a string of chart hits dating from 1965 to the present.
We've actually had a couple of theme weekends here on the True Oldies Channel about artists who are not in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. I'm sure there will be another "Shame On The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Weekend" this year.
I think the oversight that bothers me the most is the Moody Blues...
