The rock and roll planets aligned for a few short years in the late 80's, and we were treated to a legendary supergroup known as the Traveling Wilburys. Consisting of rock legends Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and George Harrison, the Wilburys were every bit as great as we thought they would be.

Norman Petty Studios in Clovis, New Mexico are to Texas music....what Sun Studios are to Memphis music . On a visit to the original building just across the Texas border in June of last year, I was struck by the similarities between the two historic recording venues.

Roy Orbison would have been 75 years old on April 22nd. His impact on music is still being felt today. With a vocal range of 4 octaves, and a 'man in black' style, he revolutionized what could be accomplished in the rock and roll genre.
