The Overlook Film Festival just began its inaugural proceedings last night, inviting cinephiles and horror enthusiasts to take in some film with a singular location for a backdrop: the Timberline Lodge in Mt. Hood, Oregon, better known to you as the Overlook Hotel and the setting of Stephen King adaptation The Shining. One could scarcely imagine a scene more apropos for the revelation that another big King remake is in the works, so Blumhouse (you know, the studio behind every horror blockbuster of the last few years) head Jason Blum and director-writer Akiva Goldsman took full advantage of their unique surroundings for a major announcement. And in the immortal words of Nelly, it’s getting hot in here.

‘It’ Trailer: Stephen King’s Horror Classic Is Back to Haunt You Again
Horror fans have been waiting for months. Stephen King fans have been waiting for years. And after a week of teasers and sneak peeks, the first trailer for It, Andres Muschietti’s highly-anticipated adaptation of King’s classic horror novel (or one half of it, anyway) is finally here to give us our best look yet at that divisive new take on the iconic evil clown. Beep beep, we’re all gonna float.

Earlier this week it was revealed that the first footage from The Dark Tower will debut in October during Entertainment Weekly’s Popfest. Until then, Stephen King and the cast of the long-awaited adaptation have been releasing intriguing teaser photos on social media — like the latest image, which features young protagonist Jake Chambers and a quote that fans will immediately recognize.

Based on the Stephen King novel from 2006, Cell went into production a couple of years ago, but languished in post-production for so long that it’s understandable if you forgot that it exists. The first trailer has arrived to assure you that Cell is indeed hitting theaters soon — well, select theaters, anyway. And judging by this trailer, you can see why this one isn’t getting a wider release.

The Dark Tower opening in January felt like a bad sign, given that the first month of the year is typically a dumping ground for less-promising films. Inspiring a healthy bit of optimism, Sony has pushed the release back a month to February 2017, while also shifting dates for similarly long-gestating films Bad Boys 3 and Barbie — the latter of which remains without a director, so we’ll see how long that release date sticks.

We’re closer than ever to Stephen Colbert’s Late Show debut on September 8, and while George Clooney’s guest appearance gave a marquee head start, the full guest list for Colbert’s full week offers a much clearer view of the new series. Everyone from Jeb Bush to Elon Musk and Amy Schumer will fill out the ranks, with musical guests on deck as well.

‘It’ Director Cary Fukunaga Is Looking for the ‘Perfect’ Pennywise to Terrify You All Over Again
Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of Stephen King’s It is one seriously ambitious project, and given the massive size and the generation-spanning scope of the novel, it’s hardly surprising (and even something of a relief) that he’s splitting the story into two films. Fukunaga has a lot of work ahead of him, but most challenging will be the casting of Pennywise the clown, the terrifying entity made famous by Tim Curry in the ‘90s miniseries adaptation. Rest assured that Fukunaga isn’t taking that casting lightly.

Stephen King’s ‘It’ is a beast of a book. Over its 1,000-plus pages, the novel follows a group of close-knit friends who do battle with a malevolent, child-killing force in their youth, only to reunite decades later to finish the job. It’s a messy, ambitious and insanely (perversely, even) detailed work. It feels unadaptable. But no one tell that to ‘True Detective’ director Cary Fukunaga, whose long-gestating adaptation is finally going before cameras next summer.

‘A Good Marriage’ Trailer: Marriage, Stephen King-Style
There's always plenty of Stephen King adaptations in the works, but here's one based on a story you might not be as familiar with -- and as a bonus, King himself wrote the screenplay. 'A Good Marriage' appears to examine a marriage through King's grisly lens, and the suburbs are looking pretty deadly.

While 'Oculus' wasn't a titan at the box office like 'The Conjuring,' it was definitely quite a clever and spooky little horror flick, making director Mike Flanagan a name to keep an eye on. Flanagan has set his next project, and it's certainly going to take someone with clever ideas for an adaptation of Stephen King's 'Gerald's Game'

‘Under the Dome’ Season 2 Sets June Premiere, Halle Berry’s ‘Extant’ Coming for July
We didn't bother keeping up with CBS' Stephen King drama, 'Under the Dome,' in its initial 2013 run, given how far-fetched the sci-fi story quickly became, but will the people of Chester's Mill have a brighter day in season 2? CBS has officially set a premiere for Dean Norris and co. to return, along with a date for Stephen Spielberg-Halle Berry drama 'Extant.'
