Two Fundraisers Set for Abilene Mother in Need of Lung Transplant
Lindsey Phelps was diagnosed with Covid-19 on April 23rd and now she's fighting for her life as she awaits a double-lung transplant.
As you could imagine, her medical bills are piling up while her family searches high and low for the right hospital to accept her into their transplant program. While Lindsey and her family face this head-on, there are many in Abilene stepping up to help, at least, alleviate some of the mental anguish that comes with medical bills.
The first of the two scheduled fundraisers is set for Saturday, October 2nd at Playfaire Park in which all proceeds will go to the Phelps family to help with medical costs. There will be live music from Tony Barker (and friends), Shannon and Doug Roysden, Outta the Blue, KT and the Blues Scientists, and Ashen the Fall. There will also be BBQ served as well as a raffle, silent auction, and 50/50 drawing. It's $8 to get in and $5 for coolers. Yes, it is BYOB.
You can find more details about that fundraiser here.
The second fundraiser is set for Saturday, October 16th at Homer's Bar and Music Venue. This will be a full evening of live rock along with BBQ plates being sold with proceeds benefiting the Phelps family. The bands you'll get to see are Rear Naked Choke, NoKompli, Farewell to Fools, Secondhand Prophets, Murderous Affliction, Cassidy Sooter, and Danny Jaymes.
You can find more details about the second fundraiser here.
So, please do your best to make one, or both, of those fundraisers as the Phelps family needs our help more than ever. Also, I'd like to point out that the bands you see listed for both fundraisers are typically the area bands that first step up to help someone in need. Their efforts should never go unnoticed, nor should those setting up the fundraisers. As a friend of the family, I can't thank them enough.
