Travel outside of the city at dusk and I'm willing to bet you'll spot one sooner than you think. Striking a deer with your vehicle is not an uncommon occurrence. Watch Your Speed
If you're driving at dawn or in the evenings usually between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm, you may want to ease up on that speed. That's when it's said deer are the most active.
Pay Attention To Your Surroundings
Be on the lookout for deer crossing signs and areas where it looks like they may roam.
Be on Alert
Use your eyes to scan either side of the road for animals. Be sure to slow down and use your high beams if the conditions permit.
Never Swerve, Brake
Swerving to miss deer can put you in a bad spot quickly. You could lose control of your vehicle, to say the least.

I always assume that there could be more than one. After all, deer are known to stick together. If you see one, proceed with caution.

A friend of mine had a deer whistle attached to his bumper and he still ended up colliding with one. They're only a deterrent. You never can predict what wildlife will do.

Wearing a seatbelt is the best protection you can get in a collision. Studies have found that fatalities in these situations were not wearing seatbelts.
