The Abilene Zoo's 'Rock and Roar' is a summer concert series where live music and wildlife come together for an evening of fun and entertainment. This Saturday, August 15th, don't miss Josh Ward a Texas/Red Dirt singer/songwriter performing live at 7pm. Opening for Josh is an Abilene favorite, Kirk House.

Check out Josh Ward's brand new music video above titled "Brand New Whiskey." The song was originally done by the late Gary Stewart and is Ward's tribute to Gary and featured on his "Live at Billy Bob's" album.

Jesse Pottebaum the Zoo's Executive Director says "the zoo store and concessions will be open during Rock and Roar and I highly recommend bringing your blankets and lawn chairs for this outdoor concert at the Zoo." Furthermore, come hungry and thirsty because BBQ and frosty cold adult beverages will be available.

Rock and Roar is an open air event that allows for social distancing and is done near the Nelson Park lake allowing for a beautiful memory making sunset. So gather the kids or make it a special date night at the Abilene Zoo for some music, food and fun.

All local, state and CDC guidelines will be strictly adhered to, masks are recommended and space is very limited for this outdoor event. So purchase your tickets early to save yourself a spot for "Rock and Roar" at the Abilene Zoo by the lake. Tickets are $10 per person and only $5 for Abilene Zoo members. Purchase your tickets online here.
