Beach Boys ‘Smile’ Sessions To Be Released

Beach Boys fans were in shock when it was announced last week that the original sessions for the 'Smile' album will finally see the light of day.

The project was shelved by Brian Wilson out of frustration and mental exhaustion in 1967.

The finished work was released as a solo Brian Wilson album in 2004, but fans have long been clamoring for the original album.

The new box set, to be released some time later this year will feature the entire album, assembled as close as possible to Wilson's original intent, from the existing session tapes. It will also include numerous outtakes, unfinished songs, acapella harmonies, and rarities.

I'm looking forward to the deluxe edition, which will reportedly contain two vinyl albums, two 45's, and 4 cd's. No firm date has been set for the release, but the label promises some time this year. For more on the story go to www.billboard.com .
