Beatles personal items continue to bring big money at auction.  Last week, an original letter written by Paul McCartney in 1960, searching for a drummer just before the Beatles departed for Hamburg fetched $55,000 at Christie's.

And a hand drawn poster by John Lennon from the 'Bed In For Peace' topped out at an impressive $152,825 to top the auction items in the sale.

The era the Beatles impacted, the 1960s, seems far away now.  And it is.  The Beatles' final recording was made in 1969, now 42 years ago.  The fact that their personal items are held in such high esteem is nothing short of amazing, much as with the 'King of Rock and Roll', Elvis.

If you're old enough to remember, the video below of that historic, and at the time ridiculed 'Bed In For Peace' will no doubt bring back a few memories.  Check out the video for 'Give Peace A Chance'.  The message, if not the event, is still a vital one today:  (via bbc.co.uk)
