I recently came across an article on Texas Proud that had a list of some things that make Texas famous. I set out to come up with as many iconic aspects of the state as I could. Then I whittled them all down to make a big ten. As a native of the state myself, I think you'll find that this list oozes Texas. See how many you agree with.

Texas-style barbecue is famous around the world. Usually slow-cooked over mesquite or oak, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The delicious flavors of brisket, ribs, and sausage have given Texas its deserved reputation as a barbecue haven.

Texas is passionate about football. Whether it's high school football games that draw huge crowds, intense rivalries between college teams, or pro teams like the Dallas Cowboys, there's just no stopping the game of football in Texas.

Music

Music is a big deal to this Texan. The Lone Star State is the birthplace of many influential musicians. From blues legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan to country icons like Willie Nelson, the state has produced some of the biggest names in music across several genres.

Space Exploration
