We're about to witness a nature show like no other this spring. The spotlight is on those buzzing insects, the cicada. Imagine creatures who have been snoozing underground for 13 or 17 years, all deciding to wake up and throw a party. Well, that's happening.

According to an article from NBC News, two groups of cicadas, one group counting their underground days for 13 years and the other for 17 years, are set to emerge simultaneously. This rare spectacle was last seen way back in 1803. That's over 200 years ago!

What's the big deal about these insects? As it turns out, cicadas are pretty unique in the bug world. They spend most of their time underground, munching on sap from tree roots. Then, when their internal calendars say it's time, they all head to the surface. We hear them so much because the males are serenading the females, trying to win hearts with their songs.

The event this spring is so special because it's like a family reunion that hasn't happened in ages. Two different families of cicadas, the 13-year and the 17-year broods, are going to emerge at the same time.

So, Texas, get ready for a loud season this spring. The sound of these insects can be as loud as a lawnmower. But have no fear, they're harmless to humans. They might be a little clumsy and bump into you, but they're just out there looking for love.
