Brittany Spears Selected In WNBA Draft

The headline above and several others similar to it, caused quite a flurry in the world of Twitter yesterday. And you can see why.

You're thinking the same thing I am right? What the heck is Britney Spears doing playing basketball. Therein lies the rub. It's Brittany Spears, not Britney. They're two different people with very similar names.

Twitter posts were flying. Everything from, "Can't they even spell Britney's name right??"...to users thinking it was a new song, "Love that Britney Spears Rihanna remix".

Wikipedia didn't help out either. It redirected users searching Brittany Spears to the correct spelling for the pop star, Britney.

As for the basketball-playing Brittany Spears, she played for the University Of Colorado and was selected in the second round (19th overall). Brittany will be suiting up for the Phoenix Mercury, NOT the concert stage. And now you know! (via msn.foxsports.com)
