Ouija boards have long been associated with the conjuring of spirits and ghosts. Since we're less than a week from Halloween I figured this would be the perfect time to crank up the creepy factor. Many people think these spirit boards are just a game, entertainment so to speak. To others, these boards have the spooky ability to conjure up spirits. Ouija boards have gained popularity over the years and have made their way onto the big screen as in the movie preview below.

I certainly don't proclaim to be a professional on the paranormal by any means but I have done the research and have sat in on plenty of unexplained happenings where they were being used.

No matter which way you lean, this year, I'm taking no chances. Let's take a look at 5 things you should never do when using an ouija board according to Puzzle Box Horror.

Don't Challange the Spirit to Show Itself

This never ends up being a good idea in the movies because it usually does show itself, in a bad way. I wouldn't think it would be great in real life either.

Don't Mess With an Ouija Board in Your House

I know this may seem a bit weird being that you probably just acquired your new Ouija board and you want to give it a try. A word of warning. I've seen too many weird and unexplained things remain in places where these boards are used. I know I wouldn't want anything in my home. Try using a neutral site.

Don't Communicate With a Countdown Spirit

If your planchette starts counting down numbers. Hold it right there. They say countdown spirits are those entities trying to come through your board. Again, I'm not taking any chances.

Don't Deal With an Entity Who Draws a Figure 8

This is something you see in the movies. The planchette starts moving in a figure 8 pattern like it's warming up or something. To me, if it's moving, you're connected. The spooky part is that some say figure 8's symbolizes eternal torment. Whoever you're communicating with can't be good.

Don't Befriend a Spirit That Calls Himself Zozo

Several years back a man named Darren Evans went public about using ouija boards and issued a warning about a demon he came in contact with named Zozo. Soon after, wouldn't you know, a spirit named Zozo started being spelled out on boards all over the world. Hmm? Coincidence or nonsense? You make the call.

Have you ever had an experience with an ouija board? They've been around since the first patent back in 1890. Either there's something to these things or they are one of the oldest playtoys around. Only one question remains to be asked. What do you believe?

Are you starving for more spirits and ghosts this time of year? As it turns out some of the spookiest ghost legends you'll ever hear are from right here in Texas.
