The $100 milllion lawsuit Charlie Sheen filed against Warner Brothers and Chuck Lorre won't be heard in court. A judge has ruled that the suit will be settled by private arbitration.

This decision is a definite setback for Sheen on several levels. The publicity it would have generated for him goes right down the tubes. And probably so does the amount of any eventual settlement.

Two And A Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre has to be pleased with the decision as well, although I'm not sure he's off the hook. The argument here is that Charlie was able to fulfill his duties on the show despite the behavior and lifestyle issues, and that he should not have been fired. There may be considerable validity to that claim.

As it stands right now, the entire case will play out in private, and not on the public stage in court proceedings. (via Reuters.com)
