After recent stage collapses, including a stage in Canada utilized by Cheap Trick, the band is lobbying for government regulations to make outdoor stages safer. Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen and manager David Frey appeared before Congress this past Monday, October 3rd and asked for regulations on outdoor stages.

 

The idea would be to have inspections and regulations in place, much like amusement park rides and elevators. Nielsen said, "We want to make sure something like this doesn't happen again and we want Congress to enact a certification process as you would have with elevators or a Ferris wheel at a carnival."
